Whoever hides his name as the author of an opinion is a coward and probably believes to be rich in spirit. But in reality he is poor in tact! For over 40 years I have been a guest in Ihringen for both business and private reasons. My host has been the "Gasthof Goldener Engel" for decades. Very friendly hosts and employees lovingly take care of the guests. I have never eaten "below average" at the Goldener Engel. Your parameters are, it reads, characterized by incompetence. I get the impression that a culinary bed-wetter expressed himself in an unqualified way with adun nou.

We returned full of optimism and left disappointed. All dishes did not meet the simplest requirements. Sliced ​​liver, dry and tasteless, fried potatoes greasy and not fresh, spaetzle mushy, etc., and unfortunately the staff is not very service-oriented either. This house, run by the owner, is located in the middle of Ihringen, directly opposite the town hall. The entrance through a narrow gate leads through the guest garden, past the guest house to the parking lots. The rooms in the guest house are very quiet on 3 floors and are generally well equipped. A minus in our room was the small 60 cm TV with throttled speakers. The guest rooms are in the front part of the facility, and when the weather is nice, the inner courtyard is also available for catering. The menu was, presumably due to the crisis, not very extensive and probably adapted accordingly. The drinks menu was extensive. The pricing is higher on and around the Kaiserstuhl than in other German regions, and also in Engel adapted to this trend. We come here especially on holiday to enjoy the unique Lebergerichte. The cozy meal with our hiking group in the beer garden after a hot hiking day was again fantastically beautiful.

The location is particular as it is an internal courtyard where the hotel restaurant is located. The food is excellent, we tasted local specialties, including wine. The very polite, helpful waitress spoke to us in English, which is not common in these parts. It is certainly not a luxury restaurant in appearance, this penalizes it a bit, even if the tables are clean and well set.
